Kenacort injection consists of Triamcinolone acetonide in a sterile aqueous suspension, appropriate for both intralesional and intra-articular use. This synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid exhibits significant anti-inflammatory properties.

Kenacort Injection is recommended as an adjunct therapy for short-term treatment in cases of acute gouty arthritis, acute and subacute bursitis, acute nonspecific tenosynovitis, epicondylitis, rheumatoid arthritis, synovitis, or osteoarthritis. It is also utilized for treating individuals with alopecia areata, discoid lupus erythematosus, keloids, localized hypertrophic and infiltrated inflammatory lesions of granuloma annulare, lichen planus, lichen simplex chronicus (neurodermatitis), and psoriatic plaques; as well as necrobiosis lipoidica diabeticorum. This injection may also be beneficial for cystic tumors in an aponeurosis or tendon (ganglia).

The starting dose of Kenacort injection for intra-articular use can range from 2.5 mg to 5 mg for smaller joints, and from 5 mg to 15 mg for larger joints, depending on the particular disease being treated. Single injections across multiple joints can total 20 mg or more. The initial dosage for intralesional administration will also vary based on the specific disease and lesion involved. Due to the risk of cutaneous atrophy, careful consideration of the injection site and volume is essential.

Before receiving these injections, it is important to inform your doctor of your complete medical history. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, this information should also be shared with your physician.
